episode 96 part 2 season 2

Toni Topilka – Fisherwomen – Fisher Sister – as my guest – Fly Fishing!
Amber Ramsay – Fisherwomen – Fisher Sister – as my guest – Fly Fishing!

ABOUT

Todays show uniquely named She’s An Angler and is all about fly fishing – such a different type of hobby than what’s in my wheelhouse of CREATE but when I get to know more from my two friends about this outdoor hobby I wanted them on the show today and you’ll see why this fly fishing hobby (for women) is becoming popular & how these two caught the bait!

BIOS Amber: Welcome Amber Ramsay to the Show a mother of two from a small town in SK originally but moved to Calgary many years ago. She started fly fishing by taking a lesson from Jim and Lynda McLennan – something she always wanted to do…I’ve known Amber for over 20 years. She’s also a top real estate agent and loves her work.

BIO Toni: Welcome Toni Toplika to the show who’s been fishing since she could hold a fishing rod but added fly fishing only 2 years ago after going the Calgary Women’s Fly Fishing Club meet up – this is where she met Amber. I’ve know Toni for several years working on an enormous project together in our own fields and being some of the few women on this job – we became confidents and fast friends.

Toni Topilka is on the board of directors for the not-for-profit Calgary Women Fly Fishers, and a member of the not-for-profit Hook and Hackle club in Calgary, Alberta.

An avid angler since very young, Toni has fished many waters in Canada including Haida Gwaii and Sicamous in British Columbia, various lakes and rivers throughout Alberta including the Bow river, the Oldman and Livingstone rivers, also still waters in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.

After a lifetime of spin-cast fishing, at the age of 50, Toni bravely took up a flyrod in 2018 after joining the CWFF club and with the encouragement of the membership, caught her first trout with a fly on the annual club campout at the Oldman river. Since then she has learned to tie flies and is eager to teach new club members how to tie their own flies at club meetings.

Secret in the ‘V’

Todays episode is part 3 and the final part in this interview with Valora Douglas and man did I enjoy myself and I sure hope she did too. She turns the tables on me asking about the signs and what they mean – being in the signage industry I do have a lot of knowledge on the meaning of signs for figuratively and literally.

my thoughts and sketch dedicated to Valora Douglas & our time together
