Around the Net: AAQ (entry 92)

Hi Everyone, today for my Around the Net entry is thanks to the Quilting Gallery’s blog regarding Alliance for American Quilts project: New from Old. Funny thing here is my Flying Needles Quilt Guild is doing the same sort of challenge this year but I’m pretty sure our quilts have to be slightly larger lol.

The quilts for AAQ need to be 16″ square, consisting of 3 layers, include hanging sleeve and label. Entrys need to be in my May 31st to be qualified. And if you are a Quilting Gallery member your chances of winning something are greater.

Any of you entering something in? If so, send me a photo of your project for all of us to see.
Until next time, have a happy and creative day,

Around the Net: Happy St. Patrick’s Day (entry 90)

Hi Ladies, today for my Around the Net entry will be focussed on St. Patrick’s Day and here’s a bit of history:

Wikipedia definition as well as some photos and tidbits of info

Saint Patrick’s Day (IrishLá Fhéile Pádraig) is a yearly holiday celebrated on 17 March. It is named after Saint Patrick (circa AD 387–461), the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland. It began as a purelyCatholic holiday and became an official feast day in the early 1600s. However, it has gradually become more of asecular celebration of Ireland’s culture.

It is a public holiday on the island of Ireland (both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland) and widely celebrated by the Irish diaspora in places such as Great BritainCanada, the United StatesArgentinaAustraliaNew Zealand, and Montserrat.

According to legend, Saint Patrick used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish people.

They could be quilt blocks 🙂
