Butterfly Garden, Top Complete (335)

So, I’m cheating a bit this year as normally I’d blog each month about construction of the blocks but this quilt is so darn easy with regards to the piecing, the French Knots on the other hand are in abundance and I’m kindof fond of them too!

So here’s my final ButterFly Garden…well almost, my silly hubby decided that it would finish it off with a darker scrappy border too so I’ve added that so more pictures to come. I’ve also finished the scrappy back, so no onto quilting…once I’m done with my pattern Every Bunny’s Welcome, I’ll hopefully get this layered and ready for quilting…

Doesn’t this just look FAB-O on our lawn, how suiting hey?

So I decided that I wanted it to be finished differently then Journey of a Quilter, so I added this scrappy piced border to off-set the blocks, what do you think? I love the softness of the colours I chose and how the blocks just POP, some of the butterflies even look 3D.

There is still space in this one, if you’re interested, you can sign up BOM Butterfly Garden.

Butterfly Garden is SET!! (319)

So after a lengthy decision to start or not to start Butterfly Garden, I’ve decided – thanks to the last few signups – Butterfly Garden is a GO! Yes Lori P, it’s a go!!

I’m going to be ordering the patterns and floss and the first block will go out at the beginning of May – yes I know a bit of a delay but the ladies who really wanted this to go ahead, wanted to hold on until the end of March as this was my cut off to determine if we had enough people – so THANK YOU to all the signups – this will be super fun!!

So here’s month 1 – once again.

And Month 2 – how shabby chic adorable is this! Even my hubby really likes it…

Butterfly Garden (305)

Okay so I’m in LOVE with this new block of the month – thanks Lori for the suggestion and thanks to all of you for voting it as one of your MOST favourites.

It’s so super cute to sew together, the patchwork is pretty basic but the results are so great! I’ve decided to use dupioni silks for the appliques, raw edge with a basic blanket stitch…
