WOW: Blog 200 Giveaway!!

Hi All, today is my 200th blog post – incredible. THANKS to all of you for following, commenting, letting me know I’ve inspired you even if it’s just a little…I love the followers and all of my club members, YOU give me the motivation to do more, post more and find things to inspire more:)

Okay now what should you do? Leave me a funny quilting story…mine goes like this:

When I attend a retreat I always bring sew many projects like I’m going to be gone for 6 months lol. I’m just afraid I’ll run out of something to do…Sew this one retreat, I was of course up super late sewing, visiting and laughing way too much…I was trying to get some squares marked with a diagonal line (simple enought, right) sew I could make half square triangles with them. Well I marked all 50 squares, yep 50 alright – but on the RIGHT side of the fabric instead of the wrong 🙂 too funny, we still laugh about this.

Birthday, Kits, Lesson, (entry 96)

Hi Everyone, beautiful sunny morning here today making Good Friday a welcomed day 🙂

I’ve been so busy the last week or so, with the Quilt Show last weekend in Red Deer, which was so FAB including spending the day with my Sister and my Mum.

Monday was my birthday which I also share with my FIL same day…my AIL and her’s is 2 days before mine, we gathered here and I was truly spoiled, thank everyone!! I’ll post pics shortly.

I got the kits cut for the Journey of a Quilter Block of the Month – Block 3 and that was so fun, I always love seeing all the kits ready to go.

Here’s the finished block 3, my Mum suggested I use the stem stitch instead of the straight backstitch and boy what a difference, I love it (video podcast coming soon)

I also drew the name for the winner of block 2 and this is what Kathy B won. Each month the club members send in a picture of their completed block to be entered in for a draw this month we had 7 people complete their block.

Here’s the pile of block from the Community Sew Day last Sat, Jen and I worked together, which went so well, we got 15 blocks completed and the top put together, what fun. This quilt will be donated to Quilts of Valour when finished.

On Wednesday night, I taught another Cathedral Windows class to my Lakeside Quilters Guild, this was class 3, working on getting our totes finished. We are almost to the point of getting the lining’s sewn into the bags. Here’s Alison’s…

I ordered a new iron, gravity feed style – anyone use one of these? I thought it would have been in by now but, nothing.

I’m busy working on my lessons for my Quilting – Get Started class starting on Wednesday, here’s the Springy colour palette we will be using

Very Great Week (entry 65)

Hi Ladies, I’m please to report a VERY good week, even though I was crazy busy with the business and several 1am nights (well 2 to be exact) I still feel great.

Monday started with our cut-off on Journey of a Quilter. When we first started this Block of the Month I had 10 sign up – then I got another 13 – then I got another 2 – so that’s 25 in total. We were hoping for 30 and would love for you 5 to come on over and join us!! I hope to mail out the first round of kits to everyone next week so the people that sign up now will be a couple weeks behind on your first kit only…there are some great prizes…

Tuesday is one of those days I will always remember. The Olympic Torch came through my little town of Chestermere, Alberta – just East of Calgary. I invited my sister Lisa and her two boys. We had so much fun! What a sense of community and being Canadian – I always love a good dose of both:)

I have maple leafs on my mitts but I wish I had a pair of the Olympic ones 🙂

After we had a bit of a hot drink, we just spent the day outside, the boys played and we visited – what a beautiful day, LOVED it!

I still had a pile of stuff to do on Tuesday, so when I got home I worked on this adorable bag I made to teach a class Wednesday night…Cathedral Windows tote bag, lined with silks and topped off with a fringe.

as you can see I’m not quite finished adding my little squares…but working on it!

don’t you just love it? It’s perfect to put your Journey of a Quilter block into and take with you 🙂

Wednesday, I taught part one of this class on and it was a success – thanks to Lakeside Girls. I brought the silks for people to pick a colour to line their bags – and they loved the silks – I was so happy!!

I also was a Guest Blogger on Quilting Gallery’s website, and I got two more guest blogging requests – how fun will these be?

This is the block that gave me so much frustration last week, thought I would share it with you. I’m still not happy with the final turnout…99 pieces.

3 paper pieced house blocks…”lights are on” come on in for a cup of hot Quilters Tea 🙂

I also worked on the Kitten’s Tale Block of the Month AND I cut out the second block to Journey of a Quilter…how was your week, I would love to hear from you!
