Me Mondays: Donations for Good Causes & Life Thoughts (148)

How’s everyone doing? I know the Mum’s out there are sad that the houses will be quiet with the kiddies going back to school but some of you will be looking forward to some “me” time, am I right?

I’ve been so busy these days cutting kits and prizes for the Flying Needles first guild meeting of the year coming up the 2nd Sat of Sept which is the 11th (Thinking of everyone on this amazingly special day in 2001 that changed our lives forever) and I’ve been generous over here at Pastimes as I donated this quilt to a wonderful cause for Pawsitive Match Rescue which rescues dogs and finds them good homes. This particular quilt was for the NWT Chapter and to help save Issy a small do that was hit by a Car. This quilt I started in 2004 it was a friendship quilt made by 9 women so there a few hearts donating to this worth while cause and they don’t even know it 🙂

I’m also planning on donating this one for CICF (Canadian Intensive Care Foundation) to raise money for their Intensive Care units in the Calgary area. I’ve worked with this charity for a few years now (in my old corporate world)

++++++++++++

As a side thought, last Friday I attended a funeral for Mr VQ’s side of the family, someone I had only met a couple of times, who was 51 and died of terminal cancer. It was such a deep funeral even though it was very short, the people who spoke about him described a person that we would all love to be friends with and have as a part of our lives…which of course makes you think. Friday last I had a very heavy heart, thinking about my family and friends, my loved ones and special people in my life that have passed on. It still makes me think about them. We are all getting older and needs to try to stay connected with people even though our lives are busy and we live far apart. Who is that special person in your life that you wish was still here…for me it’s my Gran Ramsey I wish she was here, she was the BEST taught my Sis and I about so much in life, she was fair and loved to just sit and talk all day long…I sure miss her, she knew everything 🙂

With thoughtfulness today and to make us all appreciate our gift of life that much more.

Janome Update & Draw Closing (147)

As many of you now about my sorted experience with Janome. This post however to to update you and give a HUGE thanks to Jim Findlay of Linda’s Quilt Shoppe in Kelowna, BC for stepping in and making things happen. I haven’t heard back from Janome on any of my email or phone called but Jim has contact and replied back to every single contact point I’ve made, thanks so much Jim. Here’s my 1st Janome going back to Kelowna to be swapped out for this brand new machine that arrived on Monday…I was without a machine for 1 whole week, YIKES that was rough I must say. I had a chance to setup the machine on Monday night and sewed with it on both Monday and Tuesday night and boy everything about it is working good, the threader works (1st one didn’t) the needle came nice and straight (1st one was bent) and so far so good. I hope this machine proves to be better then the last as my experience with Jim is awesome unlike Janome Corporate and their CEO David Manierka who hasn’t responded to my last two email and wanted to pass me onto someone else…I digress…

Onto brighter and better things. I will still continue to update you on my machine, what I like and dislike about it as I use it more and more. Any feedback you can give or any questions or comments I would love to hear them 🙂 Thanks again for all of the support.

Also don’t forget to vote on Heather’s Giveaway draw will close today!!

Until next week, have a wonderful long weekend full of creativity 🙂

Guilds and What’s New? (146)

Hi Everyone, what’s new with you? How is your Summer now that it’s coming to a close what did you do? Where did you go?

I’m also curious if you belong to a Guild, if so which one and where? I’m also curious about your Guild format like how often do you meet? Where? How many people? and What are some of the things that you do throughout the year like challenges, mystery quilts, charity projects and so on…

I’m looking for some good ideas and what’s worked for you guys and what do you love about your guild!! I belong to two at the moment and possibly three and they are all so very different and in good ways so the more I hear from all of YOU about what you like and what works the better my guild can be when we incorporate new ideas:)

Thanks Ladies…

Also if you haven’t entered in for the chance to Win a Year long Subscription to Quilters Connection magazine be sure you do, I will be drawing next Friday!!
